Vaccinations Thanks to advancements in veterinary medicine, many diseases that were once fatal to pets can now be prevented through vaccinations. Individual animals have different needs when it comes to vaccine schedules. At Valley Animal Hospital & Pet Resort, we will perform a lifestyle evaluation to tailor a vaccination protocol that’s specific to your pet. For puppies and kittens, we recommend a series of vaccinations at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks of age. This is to ensure we don’t have interference with maternal antibodies during the vaccination schedule. For adult pets, the vaccination protocol is tailored to the individual pet. Certain vaccines must be given every 6 months. Core vaccinations are typically given every three years. We also recommend a physical exam and blood testing as part of your pet’s wellness prevention program.
